Dear Diane,

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Gary’s untimely passing.

Gary was such an inspiration to me and to others. It is such leaders as Gary who inspire those among us who seek to make change. His dedication to Judaism and Israel, and in particular to the Ethiopian-Israeli community, is one that few carry as deeply as he. His preparedness to help in our effort to ensure that Ethiopian Jewry can truly succeed in Israel will always leave its mark with me and other members of my community.

I send my deepest and most sincere wishes that you may know no more sorrow.
